The position of Director Finance and Operations is a multifaceted, multiple function position. It requires exceptional communication and organization skills.

Accounting in compliance with US GAAP, in country statutory requirements and total customer satisfaction are the standards.

Control on all accounting functions, working capital control, Statutory compliance, Tax efficiency and compliance, control of customer orders, scheduling, contracts, field inventory control, timely status updates and continual communications both with internal organizations within the company, and back to the customers, are crucial to assure ongoing longevity and growth occurs with assigned accounts. Control on all service related issues for the capital equipment business; identify best centralized service structure for the European Countries.

The position reports to the VP&GM EMEA and is highly valued as a key contributor across the European enterprise. The Director Finance and Operations assists in the formulation of EMEA strategy and ensure that tactics and objectives are aligned and implemented within the European Organization.

Finance

• Oversees the responsibilities of the European Controller: Accounting, Administration, Tax and Government Reporting, Budgeting and Planning, Internal Controls;
• Leads the optimization of the companies working capital, supports the CFO and Group Controller in setting up working Capital management strategies;
• Ensures and leads the direction and monitoring of credit and collection activities to ensure adequate cash flow while promoting sales growth. These include maintenance of appropriate DSO’s, minimization of bad debts, and ensure compliance with corporate regulations concerning boycott and illegal trade issues.

Operations

• Provides overall leadership of existing Customer Service Organization through Order fulfillment, Field Inventory Controls (Consignment, Loaner, Trunk) and contracts and Pricing Administration;
• In conjunction with Executive leadership, VP&GM and the Head of Operations EMEA, identifies Best Practice, drives for the definition of the Performance Indicators and Operational Metrics. Drives and ensures that the Head of Operations EMEA implements Global Standards for consistency across the Operations Organization. Ensures that key metrics are identified, metrics which support the organization’s customer Service and satisfaction goals. Ensures that indicators are tightly aligned with business objectives;
• Drives for and ensures that opportunities for continuous improvement within the Customer Service Operation are identified, ensure that the consequences of changes within the CS organization are aligned with the entire Global Supply Chain;
• Leads through continuous operational analysis, key performance indicator reviews, implementation of best practices, use of standard customers Service operational systems and project management disciplines;
• Ensure that the Head of Operations EMEA implements European wide reporting and documentation processes, ensure consistency through resolutions and all required follow up across all field locations;
• Strong understanding of SOX (Sarbanes Oxley Act) implications on CS, ensures that the Head of Operations EMEA drives for continuous SOX compliant process improvements;
• Ensures European wide acceptance of Customer Service program enhancements;
• Ensures that the Operations Managers are effective in recruiting, that the Operations Staff is constantly being developed.

Customer Services Engineer department Capital Equipment

• Lead the EMEA Customer Service Engineer department, to ensure that this department performs equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications in a timely matter;
• Lead the upgrading process of existing technical lasers to the latest technical standards and set Service level;
• Agreements  with distributors and direct Countries.

Leadership/Department Management

• Manage external resources to achieve key business objectives;
• Design an internal control environment which is sound as well as understood by those involved in its daily execution;
• Manage, motivate, and develop the Finance Director, Customer Services Manager, Customer Services Engineer Manager within the group;
• Ensure the organizational structure is appropriate for supporting current and future businessneeds;
• Travel both domestically and internationally in order to effectively perform duties.

Integration Projects

• Perform and execute on current and future integration projects as appropriate for the position.

EDUCATION

• BS/ MBA degree in Finance or Operations  (European equivalent of a CPA or CMA highly desirable);
• Must be able to communicate (both oral and written) in English and at least one other European language.

EXPERIENCE

• 10+ years accounting and operations experience in a multinational environment;
• Deep understanding and experience with rapid growth business transition; with clear emphasis on åÒworld classåÓ;
• Performance expectations and deliverables. Sound administrative and management skills involving both people and principles;
• Demonstrated success leading teams to improve company image through customer interaction;
• Solid understanding of International Tax Legislation and Transfer Pricing methodologies;
• Proven track record of controlling and improving companiesåÕ Working Capital;
• Strong knowledge of IT Systems & Tools and their implications for business process (JDE preferred).

SKILLS

• Strong Leadership skills;
• High degree of proficiency with process improvement methodologies and quality initiatives;
• Ability to work across all functions and with other senior executives & managers as well as with other departments;
• Excellent planning skills;
• Excellent organizational and problem solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
• Strong analytical and project management skills;
• Thorough knowledge of medical device standards and regulatory needs;
• Demonstrated time management skills. Ability to successfully execute multiple tasks/priorities at one time;
• Well versed in Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, Access, Power point, Visio or other flow charting software.
